SAT
Dear Fellow Test-Taker,

I’m known in the world of testing as MAC the Ace—MAC to friend and foe. My only enemy: ETS, (Educational Testing Service,) known affectionately as “The Man.”

The Man’s greatest (and most profitable) contribution to standardized testing is the SAT. Have you ever wondered what SAT stands for? It used to be the Scholastic Aptitude Test. Then it became the Scholastic Achievement Test. Did it measure aptitude or achievement? No one could decide. So The Man, in his infinite wisdom, issued the ultimate press release: “SAT now stands for nothing.”

The SAT might stand for nothing, but to you and more than one million test-takers worldwide, it means a whole hell of a lot. It could mean a two-year stint at a community college (or flipping burgers at your local McDonald’s). It could mean admission to the university of your choice. A lot rides on your score.

Of course, admission committees consider other factors like GPA, letters of recommendation, community service, and school activities. A good score, nevertheless, assures you of a competitive edge in the admissions process.

What assures you of a competitive edge on the SAT? It’s not rushing into your local Border’s and scouring all the SAT books for shortcuts. It’s not hiring an expensive tutor for a few hours a week. It’s not spending $1,000 or more to take an SAT prep course—usually on Saturdays when you’re barely awake.

What’s your competitive edge? It’s understanding how The Man thinks and how he constructs his questions and corresponding answer choices. That’s where I can help.

SAT Underground: Homie’s Guide To Beating The Man will teach you to identify hidden patterns in The Man’s answer choices by using Multiple Analysis of Choices, or MAC. (I named it after myself—makes it easier to remember.) MAC leads you faster to correct answers by showing which choices you should zoom in on and which you can eliminate immediately. It cuts through layers of excess text to strike at The Man’s jugular: his answers.

To help you practice MAC techniques, I’ve written a complete set of solutions to real SAT questions written by The Man and sold in The Official SAT Study Guide. He gives you the answers; I teach you how to find them yourself. Each solution explains in detail everything you need to answer the question. Then it shows you how to solve the problem using MAC techniques, so you learn tactics while you’re honing your skills.

A lot of guidebooks offer just one question and one short solution before moving on. Not mine. Homie’s Guide To Beating The Man includes not just one set of SAT solutions: it also includes a second practice test and a second set of solutions.

The “Sample Solutions” link on the main page will lead you to two free downloadable sets of SAT questions and solutions. Take a look. Just a glance will prove to you that this is no ordinary study guide. Then go the “Downloads” page, and pick up Homie’s Guide To Beating The Man.

You are about to step into The Man’s arena, and the outcome of this contest could change your life.  So don’t enter the ring without serious preparation.  Devote a few hours to mastering the techniques in Homie’s Guide To Beating The Man. Take three or four of The Man's official practice tests under timed conditions. When test day comes, I assure you, you'll be ready. You will know The Man’s game and his every move.

Play on,
MAC
